So what is the Brouhaha?! Our job is simple, we are here to keep you in the know of all the happenings in and around Hamilton. Brüha is the one stop shop for all monthly events and experiences. So let us take the lead and help you find where the fun is this month. It’s May, and that means a lot more sunny and warm days and no more excuses to stay cooped up inside! So here’s the rundown of 10 highlighted events going on in Hamilton this May!

The Comedy Gala at Gallagher’s

DATE: Every Monday night at 9:30pm (May 1st – 29th)

LOCATION: Gallagher’s

What better way to start off a work week then FREE entry to a comedy show! Every Monday night this May enjoy Hamilton’s newest and hottest comedy show. Hosted by Isi Commisso, The Comedy Gala at Gallagher’s is the place to be for an order of Dorachos and laughs.

Glamour in the Hammer

DATE: Friday May 5th

LOCATION: Hamilton Convention Centre (1 Summers Ln)

Not only a night of fashion, but fashion made right here in Hamilton! The best way to support the local fashion industry is to attend this event hosted by the Good Shepherd Hamilton. This year is the third annual Glamour in the Hammer fashion show held at the Hamilton Convention centre. The night will be filled with 10 fashion designers, and 12 chefs & restaurants from this city’s fast-growing arts and culture scene.

Risky Business 80s Night

DATE: Saturday, May 6th

LOCATION: The Casbah (306 King St. W)

Grab your bright neon leotards, and tease that hair high because Risky Business is throwing it back to the 80’s! Presented by Hop City Brewing and The Generator it will be a night of 80’s fashion, decor, and a full confection table featuring 80’s pinback buttons and candy. Don’t miss the chance to live it up in the 80’s for one more night!

The TA2 Studio Series: Strange and Unusual with Nicholas Wallace

DATE:  May 11th – 13th, 2017

LOCATION: Theatre Aquarius, Dofasco Centre for the Arts (190 King William St)

We all share a common delusion; that our world view is based on truth and logic. We would rather not believe in something so unquestionably weird. But whether you admit it or not, we all believe in something unusual. Using magic and storytelling, illusionist Nick Wallace investigates the world of superstitions, psychics and other weird beliefs in this show that will truly have you questioning your logic and truths.

Climb for Cancer at Tim Hortons Field

DATE: Saturday, May 13th

LOCATION: Tim Hortons Field (64 Melrose Ave N)

In support of the Juravinski Cancer Centre Hospital, participate as an individual, team, or a competitor and climb for cancer! This fundraiser brought to you by Momentum Fitness is a great way to give back to our community. Join in at Tim Horton’s Field for an hour of stair climbing or partake in a 5km walk around the stadium. Help raise funds and support cancer initiatives.    

2017 Play On! Hockey Night in Canada Ball Hockey Tournament

DATE: May 13th – May 14th

LOCATION: Mohawk College (135 Fennel Ave W)

What’s more Canadian then celebrating Canada’s 150th then having a Hockey Night in Canada Ball Hockey Tournament! Play On! is hosting this event in 14 different cities from coast to coast, and Hamilton is included! Join the festival and tournament at Mohawk College, and celebrate being Canadian by getting your puck on!

West Hamilton Artists Tour

DATE: May 13th – 14th

LOCATION: Various locations throughout West Hamilton

Calling all artists and art lovers! Explore West Hamilton artists and their works by taking this self-guided free tour. Featuring a collection of over 38 juried, professional, local and regional artists working in all varieties of media. Many of the locations are the artists’ homes and studios providing an opportunity to go behind the scenes to meet and connect with the artists themselves.

Sidewalk Sounds 2017

DATE: Friday, May 19th

LOCATION: Concession Street Shopping District

Enjoy the warmer weather this season by taking a walk down Concession and enjoying the talent of six local musicians. The 3rd Friday of every month from May to September the Hamilton’s Local Music Community will be showcasing their finest outside. Activities, sales and fun for everyone at Sidewalk Sounds.

Don’t Laugh (Unless I’m Trying to be Funny)

DATE: Saturday, May 20th

LOCATION: Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts (126 James St. S)

Musical theatre, stories, special guests and comedy! Starring Stephanie Hope Lawlor and Musical Director Shane O’Regan Rook Theatre is set to put on the first of many shows. All proceeds from this night will go towards funding Rook’s Theatre inaugural season. Help support this new Theatre and come out for a night of laughs.

 Spring Bump, Baby and Toddler Expo

DATE: May 27th – 28th (10:00am – 4:00pm)

LOCATION: Hamilton Convention Centre (1 Summers Ln)

From the tiny bump to the full grown toddler, this expo is for all new and growing families. This expo will be highlighting the best of local baby businesses for all prenatal to preschooler needs. Experts from parenting blogs, publications, business and more will be there to learn from and talk to.
