Grease up those gears, pump some air into those tires and get ready to ride. Monday, May 29th is Bike To Work Day. In a kick off to ‘Bike Month,’ (May 29th– June 30th) join the City of Hamilton as it explores biking as a way of commuting around the city.
As you gear up to get active and peddle into work on Monday, be sure to make a stop at City Hall for the main celebration. Grab some healthy snacks and beverages and don’t forget to register. You will instantly receive a free t-shirt (while quantities last). Plus, be entered for the chance to win some awesome local prizes like a MEC Midtown bicycle or a $300 voucher from VIA Rail. Vendors and exhibitions will also be on site from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m., with the celebration and main address happening at 8 a.m. Hamiltonians are not only welcomed to join, but heavily encouraged to ride their bike to work- even if it’s for the first time.
Along with Bike To Work Day, Monday will also help kick off Bike To School Week. Five participating schools will be leading in a parade to help celebrate the event at City Hall.
#PedalItForward is a campaign that not only draws attention to these bike friendly movements but also gives the gift of bicycling to others. For more information and to register forBike To Work Day, visit http://www.bikemonth.ca/biketoworkday
